I’ve always had a love-hate relationship with my 45mm X-pole at home. On one hand, its great for training strength when I’m practicing tricks. But on the other hand, it makes spontaneous free style much harder.
just really lazy more of a dancer than a trickster, most of the time I use my pole to mark through dance routines while doing minimal tricks. Usually, I’ll just do a spin or two and avoid going upside down completely.
And I’ve had pole envy ever since X-pole started making 40mm brass poles.
Last weekend, I asked my pole buddy Miss Folly (who owns a 40mm brass pole) if she’d like to swap poles with me for a while, and she agreed!
So now I finally have a nice slim 40mm pole at home which is fabulous for dancing on! And she gets my nice sturdy 45mm pole to train her crazy competition-level tricks on. Win-win!
And last night I did a very brief session of free styling at home on the 40mm and omg, it makes a world of difference! I didn’t even do that many spins on it but everything just felt so much easier and now I’m totally motivated to get my home practice on again.
I also know that if and when she wants her 40mm pole back, I’m definitely chucking out my 45mm and getting a 40mm pole of my own!!! Cos all I really wanna do is dance with ease.
I’m even seriously thinking of installing some floor-to-ceiling mirrors now! The husband likes the idea too since it’ll make the house look more spacious. Maybe it’s time to replace the false wall after all…
