What’s a great way to start your week? By doing 2 pole classes in a row on a Monday night!
I don’t think I’ve ever looked forward to a Monday so much before… but it probably has something to do with the fact that I spent most of last weekend slouching around, stuffing my face and watching rock documentaries on Youtube.
Yesterday was finally the beginning of term 4, and last night I did the first lessons of tech 2 and inter 3 consecutively. And it felt great! Although… I’m really not sure how I’m going to get through the whole term doing both classes back to back, because I felt myself getting a little tired halfway through the second class. And it’s only week one.
Lesson 1 of techniques 2 was all about getting the basics right. The basics of going upside down, that is. Which means, no jumping, no kicking, and no half-assing. Just Control, Control, Control! Every. Single. Time.
Which is great, until about the 7th time or so when I start to feel like I’m heaving a sack of potatoes uphill.
Right now, my goal of being able to aerially invert with one leg extended straight is but a lofty dream. I did what felt like an attempt at keeping one leg straight, but it turned out to be just a much uglier version of what I normally do.
Also, I totally caved and signed up for the all-you-can-pole-promo at the studio!
Realized how much I’ve missed doing more classes and that I really couldn’t bear the thought of only going for class once a week. That would just be half-assed, and life is too short not do what you love for as much as you can!
(I re-read my last post about how I was only going to do classes on Monday nights and thought, ‘Seriously, what was I thinking!?’ Luckily I came to my senses, haha.)
So in the name of not half-assing, *How many times can I mention the word ass in one post?! Hmm… AAASSSSssssss* I now plan to put my ass *6!* on the line and go for 5 classes over 3 different days a week instead.
Which is still really moderate compared to when I
lived at the studio used to do a crazy 8 – 12 classes a week! This way, I still have time for some yoga and a weekly run.
And hopefully I’ll make some gains with my aerial inversions and achieve at least one of my goals in the next 8 weeks.
Or just die trying…!
