The magical golden goodness
So the bad news is that Prep has officially gotten Difficult, and that the easily-overstrained muscles on my right shoulder and back have been acting up.
And the good news is that I recently bought a giant bag of Reese’s Peanut Butter cups.
I had to go get kneaded into a pulp on Sunday. Between all those handstands, new moves, and the elusive pike that I still struggle with, Prep has officially started taking its toll on me and it’s not funny.
What is kinda funny is that while my massage therapist took a break from bashing me between the shoulders with her elbows and worked on my glutes instead, she exclaimed (in Mandarin) with a chuckle, “Wow, you work out a lot huh? Your butt’s really firm.”
Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to contribute to my nonexistent DVD Cover, my loud vulgarity-laced Superman, or my extremely heavy wrong-side aerial chopper.
Not that I’m complaining actually! I was totally prepared to struggle like hell doing Prep for the first time (and probably the second, and the third), and I was fully aware that I’d probably pull a muscle or two in the process too.
The plan is to substitute all the harder tricks in the routine with easier stuff for now, and hopefully I can hang in there til the end of term with all my body parts still relatively healthy and functional.
And if not, I’m going to need a lot more than just one bag of Peanut Butter Cups and a massage to feel better.
Hey, don’t be too hard on yourself as it is your first prep (congrats btw!!)
I’m sure you’ll improve vastly when you take it the second time!
Reese’s peanut butter cups are the solution to any problem!
PS: You should be very proud of how far you’ve come!
I’m going to be a dork and say that I am SO THRILLED and so proud that your blog has grown to what it is. I’m really happy you started it, I love being able to keep up with what you’re doing. Know that every post I read, my jaw’s hitting the desk because, DAMN GIRL.
LOVE YOU!
Ohhh.. that just made my day! LOVE YOU TOO!!
